2021-05-21 Stay with the Baggage

For as his share is who goes down to the battle, so shall his share be who stays with the baggage. They shall share alike.” 1 Samuel 30 (WEB)

David learned an important lesson. Because he left no defences in Ziklag, their people were taken captive. So when he returned from reclaiming what was lost, he respected those who had stayed behind. If you overlook defence, you'll be forced to go on the offensive.

How can we ‘stay with the baggage’? The devil is our primary enemy. When you've taken ground from him, don't cede it back! Take captive every thought to obey Christ; don't let them be taken back!

God, help me to hear your word; to obey it. Captivate my mind. Let not the enemy take a foothold in my life.
